Zadar Sea Organ, also known as Morske orgulje in Croatian, is an architectural feature on the waterfront at Zadar. The Sea Organ harnesses the movement of the waves to create a haunting musical soundscape. Created by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić, the Sea Organ of Croatia consists of 70 metres of wide marble steps, under which are a series of 35 polyethylene tubes. As waves wash over the tubes, they create musical notes that reverberate around the cavity under the staircase. The organ pipes were tuned by Professor Ivica Stamac around the chords G and C6 to create harmonious and pleasing sounds. This installation was completed in 2005 and won the 2006 European Prize for Urban Public Space.

About The Greeting to the Sun
The Greeting to the Sun, also known as Monument to the Sun or Pozdrav suncu in Croatian, is an art installation created by Nikola Bašić. Bašić is the same person that designed the nearby Sea Organ. The Greeting to the Sun is a Croatian public artwork that consists of 300 multi-layered glass plates arranged in a 22 metre diameter circle. Under the glass plates are photovoltaic solar modules which harness energy from the sun and convert it into electricity. This then helps to power the lighting for Zadar waterfront. Each year around 46,500 kWh of energy is produced by the system. At night the power from these solar cells are used to create a light show.
The main circle represents the sun and surrounding it are 8 more smaller glass plates which represent the planets of the solar system. This two-dimensional model is to scale both in terms of the size of the planets as well as their relative distances to the Sun. Additionally, there is a chrome ring surrounding the Sun in which is inscribed the names of Saints from the churches on the Zadar peninsula.

The Land Gate, also known as City Gate or Kopnena Vrata in Croatian, is an ornate stone gate built by Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli in 1543. Built in the Renaissance style, it is considered one of the finest monuments of the Renaissance in Dalmatia. It consists of a triumphal arch with six columns and 3 arches – a central passage for traffic as well as two smaller side arches for pedestrians. About Cathedral of St Anastasia Zadar Croatia
Cathedral of St Anastasia, also known as Zadar Cathedral or Katedrala sv. Stošije in Croatian, is the largest church in Dalmatia. The original church on this site dates back to the 4th and 5th centuries. It sustained extensive damaged during the 1202 siege of Zadar. Consequently much of the current building was built in the 12th and 13th centuries. The church was reconsecrated in 1285. It is a Roman Catholic church with a three-nave Romanesque basilica. Its bell tower was added in two stages – the ground and first floor were built in 1452 and the upper floors were built betwee 1890 and 1894. The Bell tower of St Anastasia offers panoramic views of the area and costs 3 euro to climb (price as at 2023). It is the tallest structure in Zadar.

About Zadar Roman Forum
The Roman Forum in Zadar Croatia are ancient Roman ruins that lie in the heart of Zadar Old Town. Positioned in front of the Church of St Donatus, this is one of the oldest and most important Zadar landmarks. Zadar Roman Forum was commissioned by the Emperor Augustus and constructed between the 1st century BCE and the 3rd century CE. Still remaining are 2 stone inscriptions which date back to the 3rd century.
The design for Zadar Roman Forum draws inspiration from the Forum in Rome. For example, both forums were built on the intersection of the north and south-bound roads of the city. Kalelarga and Šimun Kožićić Benje Streets intersect at Zadar Roman Forum. Measuring an area of 45 metres by 90 metres, Zadar’s Roman Forum is the largest forum in Croatia as well as the largest forum on the east of the Adriatic Sea.
In its heyday, the Roman Forum in Zadar played a crucial role in the life of the city. It was a marketplace as well as an important gathering spot. However in the 6th century there was an earthquake which destroyed much of Zadar Roman Forum. Today there remains 2 monumental Roman columns, one of which was once used as a shame post where misbehaving citizens would be chained and publicly humiliated. Narodni Trg, also known as Narodni trg u Zadru or People’s Square in English, is the main square in Zadar and has been so since the Roman Forum fell into disuse in the Middle Ages. About Five Wells Square Zadar Croatia
Five Wells Square, also known as Trg 5 Bunara or Trg Pet Bunara in Croatian, is a public square in Zadar that derives its name from the five wells that are lined up in a row in the middle of the square. Historically these wells were used to access water from a large freshwater cistern. The water was sourced from Lake Vrana and transported here via aqueduct. The cistern was built in the 16th century in order to help the Venetians withstand Turkish sieges. It was used as a water supply for the city until the mid 19th century.

About Sea Gate
Sea Gate, also known as St Chrysogonus’ Gate, Luka Vrata or Vrata Sv Krševana in Croatian, is one of the four ancient gates of Zadar. It was built in 1573 and commemorates Christian fleet’s victory over the Turks at the Battle of Lepanto. The gate’s design includes an inscription about the Battle of Lepanto as well as intricate decorations including a Venetian Lion and part of a Roman triumphal arch. The lion holds an open book, which represents Zadar’s obligations to pay taxes to Venice. From Zadar Sea Gate there’s access to the port. There’s also a sign with some information about the gate nearby.

About Queen Jelena Madijevka Park
Queen Jelena Madijevka Park is the oldest park in Zadar as well as the first public park in Dalmatia. Located above Five Wells Square, it was founded in 1829 by Austrian commander Baron Franz Ludwig von Welden. The park is beautifully designed and is filled with monuments. It also has underground passages which were built during the Venetian period and connect the park to different parts of the city. There is also a lighthouse in the park which takes advantage of this elevated position. Other features of the park include defensive walls, wells that were once used to supply drinking water, walking paths, benches to sit on as well as an abundance of plants and trees. About The Park of Vladimir Nazor
The Park of Vladimir Nazor, also known as Perivoj Vladimira Nazora u Zadru in Croatian, is the largest park in Zadar. It was created by Austrian Governor Dragutin Blažeković in 1888-90 on the site of a former city fortress. Initially it was known as the Military Park. The park spans over 5.5 hectares and includes walking trails, a pond, an elevated viewpoint as well as a variety of trees and plants including cypress, pines, laurels as well as different types of flowers. The park is named after Croatian poet and politician Vladimir Nazor.
